I hardly ever write such epic songs.
I don't even know whether this song is about the political situation in Poland, especially of those underprivileged: minorities and women;
or if it's about realizing it's time to cut off from a toxic friend/workplace/relationship;
or if it's about my never changing place in music 'industry';
or if it's a take on understanding how black and brown people feel.
You choose what you feel. Anyway, I literally wrote and recorded this yesterday (so it's a bit rough but whatever) with a simple aim: to send all profits to Black Lives Matter. Thank you for your contribution, I believe we will make the world a better place! blacklivesmatter.com
I've grown my patience
Throughout the years
For all the things you've done
Still bring me to tears
I've learned to keep my head down
And to walk past
Wearing the same old frown
Will we last?
I've mastered my ways to
Stay out of sight
Testing my boundaries of
How much I can hide
You made me believe I'm proud
Of my solitude
Sporting it like a crown
This ain't no good
Today it's my voice, my pride,
My breath you're stealing
Tomorrow's my choice, my life,
My home, my feelings
Now I can't speak 'cause you've stolen my lines,
I can't sleep 'cause you've stolen my dreams,
I can't swim 'cause you're welding my hands,
Now I can't sing
I can't breathe
I thought you could be trusted,
You would protect,
Prevent disasters
Keeping us safe
Now look at you standing still,
Not a blink of an eye,
Pointing directly
The gauge of your gun
I'm done pretending
You should be too
Let's make amends, but, baby,
It's up to you
Don't want to step in my shoes
Not able to rest,
Asking the same old question:
Will I be next?
Today it's my voice, my pride,
My breath you're stealing
Tomorrow's my choice, my life,
My home, my feelings
Now I can't speak 'cause you've stolen my lines,
I can't sleep 'cause you've stolen my dreams,
I can't swim 'cause you're welding my hands,
Now I can't sing
I can't breathe
